Please note that open water dives at Sail Rock, renowned as the premier dive site in the area, are conducted from our dedicated scuba boat. Local dives may take place from beach launches, speedboats, or traditional long-tail boats, at any of Koh Phangan’s exceptional dive sites. We set you up with PADI where you must complete the PADI e-learning theory before starting the course with us. This takes around 12 hours to complete. The confined water skills in the pool and the open water dives then take 3 days.

PADI Open Water Course Koh Phangan Includes
- Knowledge Development with PADI e-Learning (takes around 12 hours). This must be completed before starting the 3 day dive sections of the course.
- 5 Confined Water Dives at our on-site pool to learn basic scuba skills.
- 4 Open Water Training Dives.
- All required learning materials and dive equipment.
- PADI Open Water Diver Certification.
- Breakfast, lunch and refreshments on Sail Rock trips.
- Resort Transfers. Taxi fee of 400 THB per person, per day is payable if located in Thong Nai Pan. No Haad Yuan or Haad Tien transfers.
**Breakfast, lunch, refreshments are not included for classroom, pool days, or local dives package.** Start times vary, depending on where you are staying on the island. Hotel transfers are included* and are between the hours 06:30 and 07:30. The dive boat leaves the pier at 08:00. You return back to your hotel around 15:00.
Prerequisites For Padi Open Water Course Koh Phangan
To signup for the PADI Open Water Course Koh Phangan, or Junior Open Water Diver course, you must be at least 10 years of age, be in good physical health and have adequate swimming skills. Please check that you can answer “NO” to the questions on the Medical Statement before making your booking – you can then complete the form at our office. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary.
Include PADI Enriched Air Course
Why not include the PADI Enriched Air Diver Course while you complete the PADI Open Water Course Koh Phangan. This course is one of most popular courses for an open water diver to complete. The course is classroom based and can be incorporated into the PADI Open Water Diver Course. Scuba diving with Enriched Air Nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing to you, then don’t hesitate to become a PADI Enriched Air Diver. You’ll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical session, and two optional scuba dives, you’ll:
- Discuss managing oxygen exposure.
- Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank.
- Set your dive computer for diving with Enriched Air Nitrox.
If you choose to include this course, you will be using Enriched Air (Nitrox) on the last Open Water Dive of your PADI Open Water Diver Course.

Myself and my boyfriend have nothing but positive things to say about the team at Asia Blue. We decided to do our open water with them and it was amazing.
From the classroom session to the pool session to the dives.
Our instructor was Val and from start to finish he was great. He was so thorough and stayed late with us on the pool session to ensure we were confident with the skills needed for the ocean. It was clear that he was passionate about diving as well as teaching it.
We did two days of two dives. Val had us setting up our own equipment and went through everything we would be doing in the ocean several times so we were confident. He ensured throughout we were okay and debriefed us afterwards as well as chatting about how we enjoyed our dives and what we saw. We always felt safe and confident and loved every second of the experience.
It wasn’t just Val who made our experience. The whole team at Asia Blue are great and always there to help. We hope to return to Asia Blue during our travels and will definitely go back to Asia Blue and dive at sail rock. Thank you so much for an experience we will never forget.

Last Week I did my open water license with teacher Boris. He was very kind, explained everything very good and had always a good solutions for problems which appeared. (Problems with health of one person – we enlarged the course on 3 instead of 2 days, had more time, less rush and so the person with ear problems could still join us until it was better the next day. On the second dive the boat was broken, we had to decide weather we wanted to do the trip in the next day or do a local dive instead – we did the local dive which Boris recommended so we also dived under bad circumstances with a good teacher, that might be good for diving in other place. We did not see as many fishes but I was glad to see that it is not that bad to dive just with 2-3m sight.
Also we already did the trip to the well known spot the day before and already saw a whale shark. Of course we got the difference of money for the local dive back.

I did my open water course here and from the beginning the communication was perfect. I stayed in contact with Darran and everything was well organised.
I had private lessons from Gary, he is so relaxed and his explanations are very clear. Also he gave a lot of compliments during the skills part what will boost your self-confidence a lot !
The weather wasn’t good, but they tried everything to make it as good as possible, so my dives were nice and the most important part that I liked it! After all I got my PADI in 4 days.

My partner, our friend and I all completed our open water PADI’s with Asia Blue. We never planned to go scuba diving when we started travelling but after reading the reviews for Asia Blue on google we all of a sudden felt excited and had to see what it was all about.
Well I can tell you now it was amazing and our instructor ‘Big Dee’ is a super star! I was slightly nervous when the realisation hit that I was going to be scuba diving in the sea for the first time. Dee was amazing she kept me calm and supported us the whole time. Our friend had difficulties with his ears and equalising, Dee took the time to ensure he was okay and didn’t rush us.
Every member of staff that we met at Asia Blue was smiley and helpful they all clearly loved what they do and nothing was too much trouble 🙂 highly recommend this company for anyone who wants to get their PADI. We also did a land tour and again the gentleman (who’s name I can’t remember) was fantastic, he was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. He took us to so many amazing places and we had a brilliant day.

Boris the instructor was absolutely incredible and gave me all the information and attention during the course. I felt safe and well looked after with him, he was very professional and patient.

I completed my OWD course at Sail Rock with Asia Blue and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had! My instructor Indy was the best! He made sure everyone in our group had fun while at the same time teaching us the diving skills necessary so that we felt safe and competent in the water.
During the dive visibility was amazing, we saw massive schools of tropical fish, and a whale shark!
Thanks for opening up this amazing new world to me Indy and Asia Blue! Can’t wait to dive again!

Took the PADI Open Water Diver 3 day course instructed by Valerio at Asia Blue Scuba. He was very patient with all the questions we asked, explained topics thoroughly with visual drawings, videos, written work and hands on learning. His attention to detail and making sure we completely understood what was being taught was impeccable.
I had a fear of being submerged underwater and some anxiety during the course. Val’s expertise and the way he handles every component learned with equal importance made me feel more comfortable and confident in diving.
I highly recommend taking a course or just asking to do a trial dive with Val! It was a joy learning from him and spending those three days learning more about diving. You will feel safe in his care and he will teach you so much along the way!
